The Sapphic’s Prayer

The Sapphic’s Prayer is a hand-embroidered tapestry meant to honor and celebrate the divinity that is found in loving women. Growing up in a religious conservative family, I was raised to believe that my love was corrupted by Satan and would damn me to hell. So, reading Lyra Wren’s poem, To Love, or Not to Love? struck familiar chords within me. The final line, “I will walk into hell gladly knowing I’ve held heaven in my hands” came to me when I decided to make a tapestry about queer love and joy.
